The Present Continuous: Use

<Form Comparison
Use this for things in the future which are fixed: appointments, tickets and reservations:

I am flying home / to London on the 18th.
I am meeting Mr Smith next Thursday at 3 o'clock.
We are staying at the Hilton.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A TICKET, RESERVATION, APPOINTMENT YOU MUST NOT USE THIS TENSE!

Use "I'll" or "I'm going to" instead.

To invite someone, it is normal to ask if they are free before inviting them. This tense asks them if they have any fixed plans:

What are you doing for lunch tomorrow?
Are you doing anything this evening?
